Ivins, UT - Tuacahn's 2006 Broadway in the Desert theatre season featuring Peter Pan, South Pacific, and Cats comes to a close on October 21, but the fun isn’t over yet.
Following Tuacahn's theatre season, Odyssey Dance Theatre will present THRILLER in the Tuacahn Amphitheatre on October 27, 28, 30, & 31. THRILLER is Odyssey's spooky Halloween spectacular which combines technical aspects of dance while paying homage to the stars of All Hallows' Eve. This year’s schedule includes two more shows than in years past. “We’ve had such a strong demand for tickets to Thriller the past several years that we’re “thrilled” we’ve been able to add more performances this time around,” says Jeff Martin, Tuacahn’s Associate Producer and Marketing Director. “Our best availability at this point is for the performance on Halloween night.”
Throughout the two-hour program, THRILLER highlights all the heroes of the season, including Frankenstein's monster and his bride, skeletons, mummies, werewolves, chucky dolls, Jason, and Freddy Krueger to name a few. But among the ghouls, there are unlikely heroes of Halloween, such as the knife-savvy Lorena Bobbitt and the "Giggle Girl."
A highlight of the show is the costuming. In "Curse of the Mummy" dancers peep through eye holes, as body-wrapped hip-hop mummies, and then cleverly transform into authentic Egyptian maidens. Other numbers include "Jason Jam," "Chucky-Rama" and " River of Blood Dance" (a play on "Riverdance").
Created by Derryl Yeager (director and choreographer of Tuacahn’s production of Cats), Thriller takes people on a journey into the exciting, wonderful and sometimes frightening world of Halloween.
As an added bonus, patrons who wear a costume to the performance of “Thriller” on October 31, Halloween night, will be eligible to win tickets to Tuacahn’s 2007 season of shows. The audience will vote on the best costume and the lucky winner wins tickets to Cinderella, My Fair Lady, and 42 nd Streetnext year!
Tickets to THRILLER presented on October 27, 28, 30 & 31, 2006 can be purchased at the Tuacahn Box Office. Showtime is 7:30 PM. For more information about Tuacahn events or to purchase tickets on line visit Tuacahn's web site at www.tuacahn.org.
