“Les Miserables has everything to do with the electrifying showmanship of the 20th-century musical.”

–The New York Times

Selected as only one of eight theatres in America to present local productions of Les Miserables in the coming months, Tuacahn is proud to present this landmark musical in the midst of Southern Utah’s glorious red rocks. Since its Broadway debut in 1987, Les Miserables has captivated the world with its powerful message told through some of the most beloved music of our era.

Based upon the popular novel, the story of Les Miserables concerns the life of Jean Valjean, a 19th century France convict who is released from prison after 19 long years for stealing a loaf of bread. After breaking his parole, he is relentlessly pursued by the police inspector Javert, who believes Valjean will never be an honest man. During the 1832 Paris student uprising, Javert is forced to confront his sense of morality after Valjean spares Javert’s life and the life of a young student admired by Valjean’s daughter.
